The Global Talent visa (GTV) is a UK immigration category for talented and promising people wishing to work in the UK in specific sectors such as:

We are now recruiting for new members to join the GTV External Advisory Board (EAB).
The EAB is chaired by the UKRI Deputy Director for Global Mobility. It provides a forum for advice from across the research sector towards the development of the global talent scheme.
By joining the board, you will have the opportunity to help UKRI shape the development of the GTV.
Who can apply
All EAB members are expected to have the ability to contribute to the range of activities undertaken by the board.
We therefore expect applicants to have experience or understanding in one or more of the following:
- understanding of the governance, assurance, control and accountability structures and requirements within a large complex organisation ideally across:
- ethics and compliance
- environmental, social and corporate governance
- the public sector and environment
- demonstrable experience or expertise in public sector research (specifically having experience or knowledge of grant funding opportunities), with the ability to contribute to building institutional awareness of the GTV within their type of organisation (for example, within universities, independent research organisations, public sector research establishments)
- experience or career in politics and government to effectively advise on policy and process related to the GTV and the immigration system
- demonstrable experience or expertise in immigration or mobility
- experience or knowledge of collaborating with business in a research environment
- experience or knowledge of private sector research, with the ability to contribute to building institutional awareness of the GTV within their type of organisation.
The role of the board is to:
- provide advice to and develop options for UKRI on the decision to accept or reject new funders under the GTV, taking into account the criteria set by the Home Office in collaboration with UKRI
- consider and advise UKRI on the eligibility criteria for endorsed funders
- consider and advise UKRI on the eligibility criteria for applicants
- provide advice to UKRI on risks that develop as the scheme is introduced
- provide leadership and information sharing across the sector
- provide advice and options on other decisions as requested by UKRI
- consult and interact with the community and feedback to the EAB as appropriate to provide a route for communication
- develop and maintain a reasonable level of knowledge of the immigration system and global mobility within research.
The EAB will not be responsible for developing new mobility schemes or responding to issues outside of the global talent scheme.
The advisory board meets four times a year.
This is not a salaried position.
You will be reimbursed for any travel and subsistence expenses in accordance with UKRI’s travel and subsistence policy (PDF, 162KB).
